What are fractional shares?

A portion of a security that is less than one full share. Instead of buying whole shares, investors can purchase smaller, fractional amounts, like 0.5 or 0.25 of a share, based on the amount they want to invest. This allows investors to own a piece of any stocks and ETFs, even with limited capital, and to diversify their portfolios more easily.
